Board and Train Program
Our board and train program delivers reliable results through skilled, consistent handling. Puppies getting a head start, service dogs in training, and dogs facing complex behavioral challenges all benefit from this service.
Dogs board in the trainer’s home rather than a kennel facility. They live alongside other dogs and family members, training through everyday moments like mealtimes, doorways, and guests coming and going, with a fenced yard for safe, structured outdoor time. The result is sustainable progress that works in your real life, not just in a controlled training environment.

What Makes UpDog Unique?
We focus on the whole dog, not just the problem. And we have an ace up our sleeve: a dog gym. The mobile gym was never meant to be a stand-alone business, it developed as a solution to a problem we kept seeing with training clients: how do you exercise a dog that’s hard to handle?
Routine exercise is important for every dog, but safe, effective outlets aren’t always easy to come by. Reactive, aggressive, nervous, or overly strong dogs need physical outlets the most, yet a normal walk isn’t always safe or sufficient. Time and again, we met owners who struggle with a dog that needed exercise to stay focused, but couldn’t be exercised safely on a regular basis. So we built the mobile gym to bridge that gap.
When it’s the right fit, we bring the dog to the gym to a session, giving them a chance to settle into a calmer, more balanced state before we move into harder behavioral work. A regulated dog can actually focus, learn, and hold onto progress.
This isn’t about exhausting a dog into submission. That’s not training, and it doesn’t last. The goal is balance: enough physical output to establish a clear head, paired with tailored training that builds solid skills and confidence. A well-exercised, physically balanced dog is calmer, more receptive, and easier to reach. That synergy between exercise and behavior work is what most programs are missing, and it’s what makes UpDog a complete wellness resource, not just a training service.

We begin with a virtual intro session that lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. This allows us to discuss your goals in depth in order to create your individualized training plan. The first meeting will take place without your dog, allowing us (the humans) to focus fully on creating a successful training plan.

Individual lessons are billed hourly upon lesson completion (due same day).
Our board and train capacity is limited and demand is high. A nonrefundable deposit is required to secure your board and train dates. This deposit is based on the overall length of your booking request. Please contact us for details and accurate pricing.

Our board train programs range from 2 weeks to several months depending on the age of the dog and the program goals. Most programs for puppies or dogs are 3-4 weeks while service dogs or more refractory cases can vary greatly based on the program’s goals and objectives.

Dogs of all ages are accepted. Puppies should be at least 8 weeks of age. Exceptions are made for puppies that have been rescued at under 8 weeks. Contact us for more details.

No. All breeds are welcome. We do require an initial session in order to meet/greet every dog and to determine if a board and train program would be the right fit for their needs/goals.

Yes. We offer both private in-person sessions as well as board training options for aggression/reactivity, however an in-person evaluation is required first to determine which program format is best suited for their needs.

Private sessions take place in your home or in locations that are suited for your specific training goals. Ex. Leash walking or off-leash manners may begin in your yard or home but may also be practiced in neighborhoods, parks, public spaces, trails, etc.

Our board and train program takes place in our trainer’s home. Your dog will not spend all day in a noisy kennel facility waiting for their turn out. They will be incorporated into the daily household routine with structured supervision, play, training and rest breaks built in. For safety, dogs are crated overnight, at meal times and are never out unsupervised.
